The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a biological system that can be found in most living things with a vertebrae. The ECS helps to regulate our bodies and keeps our internal systems in balance.
Over time, our internal systems can become unbalanced, resulting in our natural systems no longer working efficiently. When cannabinoids are re-introduced to the body, they attach to the CB1 and CB2 receptors present in our brain and nervous system (CB1) and peripheral organs and immune system (CB2). These cannabinoids bind to receptors like keys fitting into a lock. This action ”unlocks” our body’s ability to produce more cannabinoids, replenish our internal ECS, and regulate a wide range of cognitive and physiological processes tied to homeostasis.
